I won't launch into my tirade about the hypocrisy of the war (us selling Iraq weapons in the 1980s etc...) because it is a long explanation and most people probably won't believe me. However, as far as I am concerned the Iraq war was just a disgusting attempt by the neo-conservatives in the US to privatise the Iraqi oil. It is a sad day when people value oil more than human lives, but that is what the world is like and it sickens me.

Labour, because there is no one better and loads of other reasons.
Polymorph: as to your comments regarding the iraqi war, i dont think it should be seen as any attempt to change our views on our country and election. what happened was due to America's beliefs, and their own reasons.
Is it wrong? Sure. But you got to look at the bigger picture. America is an Empire. Not world wide on the English scale a few hundred years ago (which might i add was a HELL of a lot worse), but alot smarter. Why go after random countries, when you can go for the fuel of the planet in the middle east? Easy peasy, keeps you going longer, and afterall its all bout keeping your country rich and clean and able, so they've done it. The only difference is that (unlike the british empire and the empires before that) they've just disguised the true nature of the war. Call it a holy war, a liberation, whatever you want, it doesn't matter, because youre 95% likely to see some of that oil money head its way into our country soon enough... dont let it get you down...

Interesting thoughts there!! Yeah, I try not to get too down about it but it's hard. I am passionate about a lot of issues.
The war was just one of the many things I considered before voting. I looked at the policies of the parties as well. In the end I voted for the Green Party because they were the party nearest to my political beliefs out of the choices we had.

Labour win was the only possible outcome due to they're previous massive majority. However they will not be too happy at Number 10. They lost nearly 100 seats to Cons and Libs. Also the Swing was massive away from labour. A good result for anyone not labour, one of the best we could have hoped for. Blair won't be able to do TOO MUCH damage with only a 60 seat Majority.

Chances are that Blair will be superceeded by Brown before the end of this term, and tbh, thats not such a bad thing. Also, Blair winning 3 elections on the trot means he must be dooing something right.
As for the locals, Salter kept his place so that makes me happy ^^ I really do like him as an MP.

It's a pity the Tories picked up seats...man I hate them. Labour winning wasn't much of a surprise though!! Lib Dems did a bit better but not as much as I thought.

Maybe it was because I was tired, but to my shame I must admit I was rather attracted to one of the new younger female Conservative MPs . I'm glad the Labour majority was slashed anyway, makes it a bit fairer plus some of the Labour MPs left are more Old Labour than New Labour . I consider myself Old Labour.
