Also that a glass of wine with dinner when your 50; isn’t a bad thing or a mistrust of what you vowed when you were younger. They say straight edge is a kind of learning process, when you’re young you learn that you don’t need alcohol or drugs to enjoy yourself. so wait, i can drink wine and i wont be breaking edge ?!? wow, why didnt anyone tell me that earlier !! so you think that commitments made for life are a stupid thing. people commit to religions for life ? people commit to marriage for life ? it is possible for people to make life-long commitments and also, who is this 'they', what 'they' said that straight-edge is a learning process. people dont need to be edge to know that it is possible to live clean and have fun. funny that you mention drinking wine and it not being a bad thing. a certain mr Ray Cappo, of straight-edge hardcore band Youth of Today, had a glass of wine with a dinner of his when on tour in europe. thus, breaking. as he said, a large portion of his edge friends lost respect for him right away, most of thier fans lost respect for him. (nothing to do with the arguement, i just felt like typing out a little story)

Ah low and behold another argument breaks out! I wish I could remember the bet as to how long it would take.
My 2 Cents
Now, I gotta say, that 1. I don't have any say on what phil did or does, it's his own buisness so forget that bit.
2. but shaun that's a really silly thing to say either way you meant it, sure being edge has become a fashion thing and I don't doubt alot of people may break it.
3. And it's not a phase I have overwhelming respect for people that are really straight edge for the right reasons as long as they don't preach, try to beat up non edge people etc. sure I make jokes but then what's the point in life if we can't have a laugh.
So people say stupid shit, maybe considering space between writing and actually posting could be used to think oh wait maybe this will be offensive. I hate to take sides but hannah and gary are clearly in the right here. It's a really damm serious thing, shouldn't be a buzz word to be chucked around.
All in all each to their own really, people have their own choices. So on that note I shall head off to the pub and make my own choices and keep my respect for people doing the same and doing it for themselves.

Okay,
I can see some people have gotten a bit pissed at me for stating that I didn’t think most straight edge people will stick to it for there entire life-time. It’s simply my personal opinion, I’ve just seen it happen to a lot of people i.e. - when they turn 21; they decide that maybe a drink here and there isn’t as bad as they thought it was 3years ago. So from my personal prospective, maybe I have a warped view on it.
If you choose to be straight edge and stick to it, then I’ll respect you for it. Being the person that I am I always say things without thinking, it’s then later I realise ‘shit! I didn’t really have time to think that over’. So if I offended anyone in anyway you have my upmost apologies.
---peace

People can live life how they want to!! As long as your happy in what your doing, and it doesn't affect others badly, thats fine. No one needs to argue just because they live life differently. Lets just all try to have fun. Its a hard thing to stick to decisions, like not drinking or whatever, so I really respect people who do!!! But theres really no need for everyone to argue...

once again, another important post by danny... clearly, a misunderstanding of communication between the camp of shaun and the camp of everyone else i guess, phil done what he chose to do, fair play, hannah and gary choose what they do, fair play to them, everyone makes their own decisions in life, these decisions may hurt or not agree with other people, but as long as the one who made this decision beleives strongly enough to carry this decision on, then they can feel better about themselves knowing they feel they are doing what the beleive is right i typed decision too many times... outty

hey its ocky..im at college and im now so fucked off at the narrow mindedness of this shaun wanker that i had to sign up as a diff user just to post coz i forgot my password on this thing. WTF! how dare u make such comments bout the edge scean, what gives u the fucking right to judge them for their beliefs, they Do commit themselves to this and DO hold it close to their hearts, its NOt a fcking fashion thing! to some posey wankers it is, but not to the true and pashonate people.no im not edge, but i do listen to hardcore, im not gunna commit myself to being edge as im not, and im not gunna be summit im not, i have so much respect for edge kids, especialy gary and hannah who are 2 good mates of mine and im behind them 100%.i dunno y u felt the need to open your fucking mouth and chat shit bout summit u dnt understand...ppl commit to this, and walk the path of edge everyday without the need to drink or smoke, show some fucking respect to the few strong ppl out their who have the will power to do what they do.
to gary and hannah: u guys make me proud, your continuing will power to stick to this amazes me..keep it up!

lets calm this down and actually read what has been said before exploding (Ocky - who joined the party late). Try to differentiate between personal opinions and insults and stop the fucking insults.
Everyone so far has agreed that there are people out there who use SxE as a fashon (if you disagree, thats fine just don't blow yer load over it). It was these people that Shaun was calling stupid. Shaun has since admitted he didn't think and word it right, and he has appologised. You gotta let a man have his opinons.
He also was never directly insulting to Gary or Hannah. Yeah, you argue that SxE is like a religion to them. But it's still an opinion thing. Not every person thinks every religion is a great idea (hence wars), there are some religions out there that worship Animal Corpses, now to me, that seems silly, but not to them. But i'm not being insulting to those who do follow those beliefs, just saying how i disagree with it. shoot me.
